Commissioned by BRIC and the late producer Meghan Stabile, this arrangement was designed for a dynamic collaboration that fuses iconic jazz with authentic hip-hop sounds. It appears on RBB’s debut album Like A Tree It Grows (featuring Ben Williams and Nicholas Payton) and has been a standout in the band’s repertoire since its early performances.
This arrangement captures Hubbard’s mid-tempo hard-bop spirit while incorporating the contemporary rhythmic language and arranging approach that define Igmar Thomas and the Revive Big Band.
